Kalliope is bred out of the mare Penelope, who already produced the fourth level dressage horse Gitane van de Kooldries (s.Sandro Hit) and a third level dressage horse sired by Krack C. She is half sister of the Grand Prix dressage horse Cyrano (s.Mozart) as well as the fourth level dressage horses Gauriante (s.Flamingo), Raspotin (s.Flemmingh) and Socrates (s.Flemmingh). Granddam Watja is also granddam of the Small Tour horse Ravel (s.Jazz). Sire Bon Bravour is in training with Anky van Grunsven and seems to be her future top mount, with which she possible will focus on the Olympics in 2016. As a breeding stallion Bon Bravour seems to be very valuable as well, with offspring like his approved son Galandro. The influential Grand Prix stallion Jazz is damsire of Kalliope.
